Unit 49 Peer Review

Unit 49 Peer review

Tony Marland The level starts on in a maze like structure with a female character. From the get go the wall textures and floor texture are very striking to the eye. The first camera I encountered change the focus to the skyline of the level, this gave a sense of perspective on the level so I knew how big the level is. The second camera I encountered showed me the end of the level this is a useful camera to show players their goal but seems like it could be cheating? Another thing I noticed is that the character place holder seems to spawn in different location which makes the level kinda of creepy. The final camera has a more open expanse focus which is good for giving a sense of relief thinking you have reached the end of the level but then the camera switches back to normal. In conclusion I think if you figured out how to blend the tops of the walls together it would look a bit more pleasing to the eye and don't fix the random character spawn since it creepy and very funny.

I love the hexagon walls as the floor shows their reflection to give the maze an illusion. I like the cameras that are set up in areas where you at a dead end. It looks good when there is the open area where you can see the character towards from the distance. Its like a dalek ship maze.

Your camera system works really well and it's clear you understand the process of setting them up. On your blog talk about how you'll use cameras in your game "Taking Back Okolina" . Like any cutscenes or cinematics you have planned or if any actions (like riding the tram) will switch the camera to a different perspective. In most games (even 1st person) using a vehicle like cars in GTA or horses in Skyrim switch you to third person as it's easier to navigate the game world. I'm excited to see what you build next !

You need to talk about how you setup the cameras in Unreal and how you set up the blueprints. You also need to talk about different camera angles in games on your blog (1st person, 3rd person etc), different controls in games and how you will use both of them in your game. Good knowledge of Unreal and setting up the cameras.
